The drone profile was scheduled as a one-way flight, so no return flight was programmed. The take-off went well, so the spare 59-0026 was not needed as a replacement for the NULLO, but surprisingly 57-2506 survived all the live missiles fired by the F-16s and F-15s. With no return drone flight profile planned, at 1435 hours they had to press the self-destruct button and F-106A 57-2506 exploded over the Gulf of Mexico.
