Well, I just couldn't let this picture go without comment. During my 29yrs 3mos career I was fortunate to be assigned with two flying units - the 48FIS for about 3yrs as the NCOIC, Training Control, and the 98MAS (Air Force One) as the First Sergeant for a couple of years - some of the most memorable years during my time in the Air Force.

Well, I just couldn't let this picture go without comment. I was on an F-106 crash site near L'anse, MI in 1979(?). I was in the 410th SPS and was chosen to go with the recovery team to secure that crash site for several days. They all went to hotels and we (3 of us) camped at the site. It spun in like a frisbee and landed mostly intact. The entire nose and cockpit was burned to the intakes. 1 wing was burned (left I think) and the tail was snapped off. I believe the canopy was in a swamp and 2 airmen waded out to get it. The entire crash-site was relatively small.
