I was TDY at Hamilton when this incident happened. The pilot had contacted a landing light that was positioned just off the end of the runway out into San Francisco Bay. I did not see the incident take place, after the fact I was told that he lost his nose-wheel steering which allowed the aircraft to veer to the left off the runway and as it was slowing down pass across the parking apron, between some hangers, through a gate in the fence, which is where his drag chute caught on it. A few days later, when the base newspaper came out, it had a photo of the Base Chief of Security Police standing at the plane writing a parking ticket!
That's a good point. For the most part, these restaurants don't serve alohcol it's just too expensive for them to get liquor licenses. A few do, though, and we'll be sure to note that in future write-ups. Off the top of my head, you'll find alohcol offerings at Plaza Tapatia, Siem Reap, and Udipi. Regarding BYOB, it's best to call ahead and ask the owners. Many Muslim-run establishments are unlikely to agree, and it's anyone's guess with other places.
Great shot! Brings back lots of memories...the mountain is still in sight (some of the time) in my present location, but at a somewhat less spectacular angle.
