I may have commented before. Haven't been on this site in a while. I was a kid flying from Jacksonville to Atlanta on a Delta L1011. I see one in the background. While we were taxiing for takeoff, I could see a pair of F-106's moving to the same runway. Our pilot held so the F-106's could leave ahead of us. He(Delta pilot) told us to brace ourselves for some noise. Boy was he right! Loud noise followed by a loud BANG. After a few seconds I could see them taking off through the windows on the other side of the L1011, afterburner flames trailing! An awesome sight never forgotten.
