The 329th FIS was redesignated in August of 1955 at George AFB with F-86Ds as part of Air Defense Command's Project Arrow, which was designed to bring back fighter units which had compiled memorable records in the two world wars.  The squadron replaced the 456th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron at George AFB.  In the spring of 1957 it received F-86Ls and a year later transitioned into F-l02As.

In July 1960 the unit began flying F-l06As. The 329's last assignment was with the Air Defense Command Los Angeles Air Defense Sector stationed at George AFB, California. It also maintained an alert detachment at Edwards AFB, CA. In May 1969 the 329th began giving up its F-106's with F-106A 59-0108 and F-106B 59-0162 being the last 'A' and 'B' models to depart 9 Jun 1967. It was deactivated on 31 July 1967 as part of the phase-out of ADC.
